Our Approach Skis include Skins and Bindings! Free Shipping to the US and Canada.

For years Snowboarders have had two options to access the Backcountry: slogging around on Snowshoes or dropping some serious cash on a Splitboard. The only problems have been that Snowshoes are inefficient and Splitboards sacrifice riding quality for hiking efficiency. That all changes with Approach Skis.

Approach skis combine the versatility of Snowshoes with the efficiency of a Split board. Take any board in your quiver into the Backcountry. Strap a pow surf, resort board, or deep powder gun to your back and you’ll be experiencing the thrill of Backcountry Snowboarding without having to cut your Snowboard in half. Approach Skis excel in established skin tracks, but also do well breaking trail.

Even better, our Approach Skis are made from 100% Recycled Plastic. Each set of skis is made from recycled plastic that was destined to pollute the earth. We combined our 100% Recycled Plastic Approach Skis with Premium Mohair Climbing skins to give them superior grip when climbing steep and rugged terrain.

    Semi-compatible with Spark Bindings

I just installed a pair of Spark Arc ST bindings on these things. They work, but a couple caveats should be noted before repeating this. 1.) Riser Kit is necessary and requires some modification due to the rails of the skis being too narrow. I just used a dremel so slice off the excess from the risers to get them to fit. 2.) The holes for the heel risers are about 1 inch too set back, making the riser bar not actuate correctly. These will work for the upcoming season no doubt though!

Thanks for the heads up! Since BCS AP Skis are specifically designed for our binding system, we can't guarantee that they will work with aftermarket bindings. Glad you were able to get them to work though!

    Fantastic investment

When I first unpacked them they looked like a DIY project. But when you start climping those mountains they are incredible. Quick to strap on your boots and secure grib on the snow.

The one star missing because they loose performance when you transverse a hillside and there is no tracks or very shallow tracks.

Thanks so much for your honest review and for putting them to the test in the mountains! We just wanted to note that you had purchased a pre-release set, and we had shared that it was more of a prototype than the final production version. Happy Shredding!

    Start in the Backcountry

These things are great. Put in quite a few days this winter and they work quite well. Ive wanted to get into split boarding for years but didnt want to pay over a grand for a full set up. Not only are these a fraction of the cost, but Ive had these go up angles that the people Im touring with struggle to climb. Get these bad boys in a skin track and it feels like youre flying up the hill, plus kick turns are an absolute breeze. 10/10 would recommend.
